What is a default tracking campaign?

A ‘Tracking Campaign’ will collect statistics for relevant posts so you can see how Twitter and Facebook posts has helped your marketing objectives e.g. increased visitors, signups etc.

SocialMotus allows you to created multiple, customized tracking campaigns to track different metrics such as sales, signups, visits and so on. This would usually be for something specific such as sales of a product line, a specific Christmas promotion etc.

Then you assign each post to a specific tracking campaign.

On the other hand, the default tracking campaign is more of a general campaign for conversions that are not associated with a specific campaign.

That is, the default tracking campaign groups the results of all the posts you have not attached to a specific tracking campaign you created, yet the link in the post points to whichever webpages you placed the default tracking campaign in.

Example

I might put the default tracking campaign in all the confirmation pages customers see after they download any of my software. Then when I post a message that contains a link to any of these pages but I don’t attach it to any tracking campaign I’ve created when posting, it will automatically be associated with my default tracking campaign.

If I go to view the results of the tracking campaign under ‘Measure’>’Tracking Campaigns’>’Default Tracking Campaign’, it will aggregate the conversions of ALL these post so I can see how general Facebook and Twitter posts have helped with increasing sales for any of my software.

This is a great way to see how your posts has helped your sales overall as opposed to how posts have helped you increase sales for a specific product.

Unlike a specific tracking campaign which you would use to narrow down what you’re tracking to say, how posts have helped you increased
