Facebook Launches New Inline Translation Tool For Facebook Pages

Facebook has introduced a new inline translation tool that lets you instantly translate posts and comments into another language. It is powered by the Bing translation tool and instantly translates posts on your Facebook page into your native language (The default language you chose to view Facebook posts and comments in when setting up your page).

The “Translate” link will appear on content written in a different language next to the “Comment” and “Share” links. Click on this to instantly translate the post into your default language. Click on the “Original” link to convert the post back to its original language.

What I like most is Facebook is offering users the opportunity to correct translation mistakes. If the translation is incorrect, users can right-click on the post to enter their own translation through a small pop up window that appears. If your translation receives enough positive notes, it will replace the Bing powered translation.

All pages are automatically opted-in to this new Facebook Tool. To disable, simply go to “Edit” on the left hand side of your page, then “Your Settings” and unclick “Allow translations from Admin, community and machine translators.”
