How do I create a tracking campaign?

We recommend you assign each post to a specific tracking campaign. This way SocialMotus will aggregate the results of all the posts under each campaign. For example, you might create a tracking campaign called “Christmas Promotions 2012” and send 10 messages to promote this campaign. If you assign these 10 posts to “Christmas Promotions 2012”, you will be able to see the combined statistics of these messages i.e. the total number of clicks for these 10 messages.

    1. Go to the “Manage” tab on the top of the screen.
    2. Then the “Tracking Campaigns” side tab.
    3. Click on the “New Tracking Campaign” bar.
    4. Enter the appropriate information in each field. If you are not sure what information to enter into each field please see the sample below. For Goal value/amount: Goal value is the targeted conversion (either a sign up, sales or download) you expect to achieve, while Goal amount is the targeted conversion value (sales amount or equivalent) you expect to achieve with your campaign. For example, you can create a tracking campaign to track your conversions for Twitter and Facebook. If you want to get 10 signups for your travel package, you can set your Goal value 10. If 10 sign ups will generate $1,000 in sales, then your Goal Amount is $1,000.Note if you are not tracking the dollar amount you made for certain tracking campaigns e.g. only tracking visitors, you can always enter this amount as $0.
    5. Click “SAVE”.

If you are tracking metrics such as visits/traffic or clicks that do not require users to perform any action other than visiting a page, you will not need to place a tracking code in the webpage you are tracking.

If you are tracking conversions such as sales, subscriptions, signups, or downloads, add the unique tracking code that appears to the webpage you want to track. For example, you can add it to the “Thank you” page or “Confirmation” page shown after people perform an action on your website, such as signing up to your product trial or placing an order.

If you need to see the tracking code again at a later stage, you simply:

  1. Go to ‘Manage’ and then ‘Tracking Campaign’ from the left
  2. Go to the ‘Tracking Code’ section
  3. Click the ‘Edit’ pencil icon for the relevant campaign.
  4. Scroll down to see the tracking code section

Now when you send a post with a link relevant to your tracking campaign, you add the tracking campaign when you are creating the post. You can add a tracking code by:

  1. Clicking on the megaphone image.
  2. The option to attach a tracking campaign will appear.
  3. Select the appropriate tracking campaign for the drop down menu.
  4. Send your message and your post will be added to the tracking campaign.

Alternatively you can find the tracking code for the ‘Default Tracking Campaign’ in your ‘Settings’.
